Bloom Skincare Product Lineup

Hi to all my Beauty Queens,

I promised you a review on Bloom Skincare by Young Living, and here it is! Young Living launched their new addition to their skincare line back in June at the annual Young Living Convention. I received so many questions on what I thought, such as its effects on acne and pigmentation. But mostly, I have been asked if there will be a noticeable difference in the overall appearance of the skin right away. My answer to that is perhaps, but never to the product's full potential. I believe any good, clean skincare line takes more than a week to work its magic. It is wise to commit a full 6-12 weeks to see a new product work its effect on the skin. This rule of thumb is especially important when you are trying to rid your skin of pigmentation. Moisturizers and or serums with certain ingredients like hyaluronic acid work pretty much instantly, but acne and pigmentation will take a bit longer. These products, with their active ingredients, are usually changing skin at the cellular level. So, three months is an excellent marker to give any product an honest review. Now, if you are having reactions, you will notice that within the first week or so, do not hesitate to discontinue any product wreaking havoc on your skin. Just like everyone is made different, so is our skin. What one person can use, it not necessarily the best product for someone else. Don't be discouraged.

What I love about Young Living is that they are a clean product company that creates its products with the highest possible standard, and their skincare line is no exception. They do not add synthetics, fragrances, parabens, or sulfates. Each piece of the Bloom set also incorporates the power of the Sheerlume Brightening Complex and powerful essential oils like vetiver, blue cypress, royal Hawaiian sandalwood, clove, jasmine, carrot seed, spearmint, geranium, and frankincense oils. They are designed to synergistically work together for the ultimate outcome. The smell is quite intoxicating and made my skincare routine feel downright luxurious.

The Items

Bloom Cleanser

I loved the squeeze bottle and a little trick of the trade; when you are getting down low, cut the top off and grab some of the goodness left in the bottom, then add the top back to prevent bacteria. Bloom cleanser was lovely and hydrating without leaving the skin oily.

Make sure to avoid the eyes. I had many people, including myself, that had a bit of burning from getting the cleanser too close, nothing alarming, but uncomfortable. I always suggest using an eye makeup remover before cleansing the skin anyway. It's gentler on that particular delicate skin and does a more thorough job. My clients and I use Eminence Organics Herbal Eye Makeup Remover. Key ingredients include green tea, cucumber, calendula, and chamomile. Bloom Essence

Some may not be familiar with using and essence in their skincare routine. It originates in Asian beauty care and is an imperative element of the Asian skincare routine. As we do know, a toner is the next step after the cleanser. A GOOD toner's job is to pH balance the skin and prep your skin for the next few steps of your skincare. If any of you know me, I ALWAYS suggest a toner. I often find this is the one product many of my new clients are skipping and so they do not see the difference and outcomes they would like to see with their skin. This step sets up your skin for hydration and all the other products to work more efficiently.

With that in mind, an Essence is a bit different; you can think of it as a lightweight booster (think a less concentrated serum). Essence works at the cellular level doing all the dirty work as it promotes cell turnover and helps your skin to look bright and smooth. When you apply, you want to sprinkle some in clean palms and gently push the essence into your face, neck, and décolleté. I will add I love that YL added the crystalline mica to these products. Mica gives your skin a quick hint of shimmer, but keep in mind; long time use will help you achieve these results.

In conclusion, should you double up and use both toner and an essence? Yes! You can absolutely incorporate these BOTH into your routine. Remember, toners maintain your skin type and pH balance, whereas an essence targets more concerning conditions like aging, dullness, and helps with moisture loss. I started using an essence about a year ago from Eminence Organics and love how it works along with my products.

Bloom Moisturizer

I admit, I was a little concerned about using the bloom moisturizer for my skin. While I have combination skin, I can also be oily at times still. Especially in the summer months. However, unlike the Sheerlume moisturizer, which was a little too heavy for me, I did great with Bloom. Two pumps will get you more than you need. As I always tell my clients, with any good clean, concentrated product, a little goes a long way. Two of my favorite ingredients used in the moisturizer are licorice root extract and pili pulp oil. Pili pulp oil brings on the glow, straight from the Philippines. The licorice root extract is something I have used with great results while working on pigmentation issues with my clients for a while now.

Overall, I did enjoy using the Bloom line. I do believe most skin types can use these three products with success. If you have active acne, this may not be the product line for you right now.  It is super important to switch up your skincare (just like your hair care products) to get your skin to respond better. It's nice that YL acknowledges that and adds more to their line. I do think it is particularly important to add a serum and eye cream to the mix. A serum is such an essential part of your skincare line up. This step is where all the change happens deep in the dermis layer. Because I struggle with pigmentation, I will add that I still used my Bright Skin Serum by Eminence Organics and Bright Skin peel and target treatment. You can get these by clicking here. I do have a blog that will blow your mind on pigmentation coming next week. I dove deep the last couple of years to figure out why some struggle hard with this annoying issue. So, stay tuned.
